SPONSOR A CHILD IN NICARAGUA OR NIGERIA
ABOUT THE PROJECTS: In Nigeria we are committed to furnishing a school that is being built by the Rotary Club of Ikeja
South. This project will provide desks, chairs, books, chalk boards, computers, a generator and many more items that are
needed in the school. Our donations will support education for more than 150 children.
In Nicaragua we are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty for children through education. Our efforts will focus on
bringing children off the dumps, currently their main source of food and income, and provide them with a hot meal a day
and education. Education is the tool with which these children can carve out a better life for themselves.
BIO SAND FILTERS
ABOUT THE PROJECT: It is estimated that over 6 million children die each year from unclean water. It is also estimated that
over 1.2 billion people in the world today do not have safe, clean water to drink. It is a fact that the vast majority of
infectious diseases are transmitted through unclean water.
Rotary and its partners, World Vision and Water for People, have been working hard to correct this problem for a number
of years. Wells have been dug and pipe lines have been laid, but still the problem of unclean water persists. While wells
and pipelines are important, a simple way to help people have good and clean potable water has been developed: the bio
sand filter. For only $60.00 the bio sand filter allows an average family to have clean water for the many years to come.
