Norwin Club Gets New Members Involved
Our new President, Eric Archinal, has formed a new
committee this year, called the "Welcome Committee." It
is comprised of new members who have been in our
club for 3 years or less. They are committed to
completing a project of their own that will add to the
service that our club consistently performs for
community and the world. The topic they have chosen is
"Norwin Rotary Ends Polio Campaign."
The Norwin Rotary ends Polio Campaign will be held on
Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Banquets Unlimited from
5:30 to 8 PM. The Grand Prize will be $3,000.00! There
will also be 8 prizes of $100.00. Only 200 tickets will be
sold at $50.00 each. You do not have to be a Rotarian to
buy one and you do not have to be present to win. More
than one person can go in on a ticket.
We will be doing a “Lucky Loser” drawing for two tickets
to a Steeler Game donated by Scott Nace. So if you are
in attendance and your number didn’t win anything you
will be eligible to win this prize.

Celebrating Birthdays and Literacy!
October 16th marks the 250th birthday of Noah Webster. And what better way to honor him than to
distribute his masterpiece, the dictionary, on his birthday! And even though it is Noah’s birthday, the children of
Pennsylvania will get the presents! Last year there were 154,391 3rd grade students; 71,432 of those students received
dictionaries (46.3%). How can you and your club improve that number? Also, remember that the earlier we distribute
dictionaries, the more the children will be able to use them during their school year. If you have any questions please
contact the District Literacy Resource, Maria Fetock, by phone at 724-785-3831 or by email at elppa@atlanticbb.net.
